The tracks have been replaced by the trail.
San Benito's Tunes by the Tracks has moved locations and changed names.
The first Tunes by the Trail concert is slated for Thursday and followed by Rocking at the Resaca on June 27.
Both of these free shows are slated for 6 to 10 p.m. at the W. H. Heavin Amphitheater, 705 N. Bowie Street.
The concerts were formerly held at the Veterans Pavilion. The pavilion has been torn down to make room for a new Veterans War Memorial.
Event organizer Carlos Cañas said the new amphitheater should provide better seating and atmosphere for the shows.
"It's better suited for performances," Cañas said.
The $300,000 facility is located down a walkway about 100 yards off of Bowie Street.
The covered stage has no rear wall and backs up to a resaca allowing the audience to also enjoy the scenery.
The crowd sits on curved masonry benches built into the side of an artificial hill. Cañas said there is space for more than 100 spectators.
"If anybody would like to sing, we'd be more than happy to have them," Cañas said.
Those interested in performing can contact Cañas in advance at 956-241-1967.
Thursday's event will feature an evening of musical oldies, classics, American standards and Spanish ballads.
Scheduled performers already include Velma De Los Santos and Patricia Cantu both veterans of local musical theater.
June 27's Rocking by the Resaca skews the music to a younger and louder demographic with bands such as Ten Yearz Gone.
Tunes by the Trail events are also scheduled for the final Thursday and Friday evenings of July and August.
