It’s been almost 20 years since the last Indiana Jones movie was released. “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” was a marketing success and left audiences wanting for more. The wait is about to come to an end — a new Indy film will be released on May 24.
This is a good time to introduce younger generations to the epic adventures that made Harrison Ford an even greater Hollywood icon.
The “Indiana Jones - The Adventure Collection” DVD set includes the three Indiana Jones movies and some fun extras. It also includes screeners for the yet-to-be-released Indy flick.
So if you didn’t purchase the box set released in 2004 — not many people did — this is a good chance to add Indy’s timeless adventures to your DVD collection. GET IT.
'Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark'
Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark was the film that introduced the adventure-seeking archeologist and professor, played by none other than Harrison Ford, to the whole world. The film is just as exiting as the day it was released. The film’s gleeful plot, strong secondary characters and villains are convincing and fun to watch.
Karen Allen plays Marion Ravenwood, the woman who wins Indy’s heart. Her character, though, was not your cliche damsel in distress —she wasn’t afraid to face danger.
'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom'
The second of the Indy trilogy is perhaps the darkest film. This was the film that introduced monkey brains as dessert and ritualistic heart extirpation.
Still, Kate Capshaw — who went on to become Mrs. Spielberg — and Jonathan Ke Quan add a lot of laughs as Willie and Short Round respectively.
'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade'
Sean Connery joins the cast and nearly steals the show in this Indy installment. This film is the funniest, but also has some of the most touching moments in all of the trilogy.
Take another look at the films and see if you agree.
