It’s Kanye vs 50 Cent with another rapper battle on the horizon

All fans can do is sit, wait and watch them go at it

Pictured are rappers Kanye West and 50 Cent. Both artists are releasing albums on Sept. 11.

Two giants will be converging in a historic battle on a historic day in September. No, I’m not talking about Bush and Osama. I’m talking about 50 Cent and Kanye West.

Apparently, both rap icons are set to release albums on Sept. 11, which is why the inevitable rap war has begun. Who will sell the most albums? But the question I’m more concerned with is, who really cares?

Chances are, both albums will sell well, and the numerous bottles of vitamin water, diet drinks, and whatever other products they endorse, will also sell well, securing the two moguls for the next 50 years.

Nevertheless, there’s nothing people like more than a rap feud and this might be the biggest most interesting one to date.

In one corner we’ve got West, the college dropout who has credibility with pop, indie rock and hip hop fans and who has mouthed off about the president on national television. On the other corner stands giant abs of steel, 50 Cent, a former drug dealer who has been shot nine times. Seriously, when I think of 50 cent, that’s really all I think about. The man must be invincible.

50 Cent is also notorious for starting rap feuds, so the new quarrel is not a surprise.

But what really counts is whether the rappers are able to produce the one hit that will inevitably take them to the finish line and neither has done that.

50 Cent’s “I Get Money” isn’t exactly groundbreaking and although West’s “Stronger” generates the glitzy style and flair he’s known for, I don’t think it’s enough to win over the hip hop masses.

All fans can do is sit, wait and watch the two go at it, because both are bound to make their share of controversial comments.

In fact, 50 Cent has already embraced the competition. In an interview for Hot 97, the rapper told Funkmaster Flex he was ready to go head-to-head.

"I hope they see and understand what’s getting ready to happen," 50 Cent said. "I’m coming September 11. If Kanye comes that day, he comes that day. That’ll be great. I think his people are smart, I think he’s smart too ... I think they’ll move (their release date). But I’m coming September 11."

There’s no word from the West camp yet, but one thing’s for sure, both rappers are ready to rumble.

Who do you think will win?
